How to use triple therapy cream

Apply the cream to the area affected by melasma – not to your entire face.

Do not just dab the cream over each brown spot – apply it to the whole area affected by brown pigmentation. If you dab the product just on to particular age spots, sometimes it can lighten the skin just around them as well. This can result in a lighter “halo” of skin around each blemish. Spreading it over a larger area can reduce this effect.

Do not apply to the sensitive eye area.

The important thing to remember is that this cream contains an ingredient that speeds up skin cell turnover – this is a major part of why it works so well. Therefore, some light skin peeling is to be expected and is part of how the cream works to remove the melasma.

Your skin may become inflamed and peel more if you use the cream too liberally.

Your skin will, however, build up a tolerance to it with time so it is advisable to use the cream intermittently to begin with.

Apply it at night and wash it off in the morning, on consecutive days until the area of skin feels too irritated, then give it a break until the skin feels fully recovered.

The skin usually starts to build up a tolerance, and after 2-3 weeks you may be able to apply it every night.

Redness and irritation should prompt you to stop it for a few days until the skin recovers.

As this cream will make your skin more sensitive during use, you should be cautious about using other creams or lotions containing sensitising ingredients during the weeks when you are using it.

In particular, avoid exfoliants, other creams that include retinoids (vitamin A), and anything that usually makes your skin feel sensitive.

You will need to be extremely diligent about sun protection, sun avoidance and the use of high factor sunscreens protecting against both UVA and UVB.  If you are travelling to any hot countries, it is recommended to stop using the cream 7-10 days before your departure. When you return, you can resume use but be cautious.

Do not use this cream for more than 8 weeks in a row, due to the risk of ochronosis, a blue-black pigmentation of the skin.

Important note

The ingredient hydroquinone in the triple therapy cream tends to work best on fair skin tones. If you have a medium-to-dark skin tone, it’s best to see a dermatologist in person rather than using this online service, as the cream may actually worsen hyperpigmentation.

This cream is also unsuitable for sensitive skin, as it is the most powerful treatment available, and thus typically causes light skin peeling and irritation while it is working.
